Watch migrating whales and sea turtles
Few events in nature match witnessing a sea turtle emerge onto the beach at night, lay up to 100 eggs and crawl back into the depths of the ocean. Well, maybe breaching humpback whales or surfacing dolphins. As well as experiencing these unforgettable events, you will take part in turtle and mangrove conservation projects and learn about the fine balance the world faces when supporting local communities and protecting animal species while staying in a stunning eco lodge. |
Day 1: Discover a world of biodiversity
Take a short flight to one of Colombia's most biodiverse regions: El Pacifico. Settle into our sustainable eco-lodge which overlooks a rugged beach swarming with remarkable marine life. Enjoy a presentation into the remarkable flora and fauna bursting from this coastal area which resembles Jurassic Park. Day 2: Witness migrating whales Jump aboard your private boat to witness migrating humpback whales breaching the water and feeding their young. We dock at the untamed Parque Utria where we explore stunning mangroves and snorkel next to a deserted beach. As darkness falls set out along the beach led by torchlight looking for hatching sea turtles. Day 3: Release sea turtle hatchlings Take part in a sea turtle conservation project by releasing hatchlings into the ocean. Head along the beach to three spectacular waterfalls. Shower under the falling waters before indulging in traditional leaf-wrapped lunch. You'll get the chance to help local artisans by purchasing handcrafted jewellery. Final dinner of freshly caught fish. Day 4 - Eco trek and snorkelling We enjoy an ecological trek to some stunning waterfalls before diving below the clear waters for some snorkelling. After a fish lunch we enjoy a sunset yoga session on a private section of the beach. Day 5 - Departures Early departures from the Pacific to either Medellín or Bogotá. (note: whale and turtle activities are seasonal) |
