Environmental impact
Carbon offsettingWe offset all the transport carbon emissions from every trip for every traveler by calculating our carbon emissions using an online calculator and donating to projects certified by Verra and Gold Standard. View our Climate Policy.

No single-use plasticWe have ensured that throughout your journey with Kagumu Adventures you won't be using any single-use plastic and you will be offered alternatives. We ensure you can refill your bottles with water on every trip we offer.

Sustainable food managementWe are very conscious about the waste we create on our trips. As well as we can prepare for a zero-waste trip (quite possible as our food is so delicious), sometimes food waste may be unavoidable. We also ensure that the majority of the food you consume on your trip is locally sourced and with limited packaging.

Laura"Thank you to Simon, Laura and everyone at Kagumu for a brilliant 10-night Colombia trip. We were so well looked after and packed in loads of walking and adventure. The local guides were excellent and full of knowledge. Kagumu Adventures took care of everything and I love their sustainable/responsible travel ethos. I highly recommend them, a truly memorable trip."

Kristen"Kagumu Adventures walks the walk when it comes to responsible and sustainable travel. Every detail of the trip was handled, leaving us nothing to worry about, including plenty of vegan options at every meal (thank you!). We packed so much adventure into our time together, had incredible local guides from whom we learned about the country’s history and culture, and visited some truly beautiful destinations. I can’t wait to schedule my next trip!"

Economic impact
RNT (Registro Nacional de Turismo)
We our fully registered in Colombia with the chamber of commerce and continue to pay, among all other taxes, the FONTUR tax every year that contributes to the country's tourism board. We also maintain our economic sustainability by being fully certified to work in tourism in Colombia and you can check out our RNT certificate here.
17 UN Sustainable Development Goals
We believe in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our positive impact is worked directly in line with these global goals. During each trip, travelers will visit or work with projects that are working towards at least one of these global goals for example organic farming in Antioquia that promotes responsible consumption (Goal 12).
Our impact measurement is based around three of these goals. Responsible Consumption, Life on Land (Goal 15) and Climate Action (Goal 13). We also donate to projects and work with partners that have included the SDGs in their own impact measurement policies thus promoting Goal 17 Partnerships for the Goals. |
